I disagree with the NYPD's stance on social media.
What they are not recognizing is if the public can see the human side of police-work it will likely increase and enhance their relationships which, in NYC is NOT particularly strong.
Surely, a good policy and some policing (get it!) of officers' social media outlets would be necessary, but to me the potential gains far outweigh the risks.
