Facebook will slowly become a dinosaur as evidenced by this article. And I don't care.
But does it really matter? It may go the way of Yahoo, AOL, or even MySpace. But it will survive, maybe even thrive.
I don't care.
What I care about is where the audience is, what the business objectives are, and what do I have to do to engage my advocates.
Facebook, Twitter, Pheed, or the yet to be invented social networks of tomorrow are just mediums to me. Very powerful mediums, but mediums nonetheless.
I'll figure out how to use those too, to reach my target audience and to engage with them on their terms. Then I'll even figure out how to get them to sell for me, by utilizing the very medium they are interacting with to engage with them and incentivize them to act on my behalf.
I admit, having to keep up with so many new forms of media isn't easy for an old guy. And it's tiring at that. But if that's what it takes to keep my company and client's messaging in the right hands, in the right place and at the right time, THAT I care about.
What about you. Are you crying over the ultimate demise of Facebook?
